Getting Started

Inviting Team Members

Add your colleagues to Barristr and assign them the appropriate access level.

Sending invitations

Go to Settings > Users and click Invite. Enter the person's email address and assign a role.

Available roles

  • Partner (Associe) — Full access to everything. Can approve invoices, delete items, and manage all firm settings.
  • Associate (Collaborateur) — Cases, documents, time tracking, billing, calendar, and clients. Cannot delete items or manage users.
  • Support Staff (Personnel de soutien) — Cases, documents, time, calendar, and clients. No billing access.
  • Admin HR (Admin RH) — Billing, calendar, clients, compensation, appointments, announcements. No access to cases or documents.
  • IT Admin (Admin TI) — User management, firm settings, CMS, audit logs, offices, departments. No cases, documents, or billing.
  • Secretary (Secretaire) — Clients, calendar, and appointments only. Limited access for front-desk staff.

Setting compensation

After inviting a user, edit their profile to set hourly rate, billable rate, and salary. The billable rate auto-fills when they log time entries.

Deactivating users

Click a user's name and select Deactivate. They can no longer log in, but their time entries and documents remain in the system.
